The students inquired into the structure of a recount by ordering the pictures from the story of The Little Red Hen and matched the action or doing words (verbs) to the pictures whilst discovering that a recount is told in the past tense. Later, they each wrote three complete sentences on magnetic sentence strips, ordered their sentences and made one complete story.
We are doing "Math talk" at the beginning of some class to practice math vocabulary . Here the students wrote a number, said the number, added or subtracted one digit and gave the answer, using mathematical language.
This week the students brought in "Me Boxes" that had things that were special to them to share with their class. This was their first real presentation in Grade 3. They then did a self reflection on how they did.
In order to demonstrate what the students have learned over the course of this year, they took pictures of themselves at different locations around the school with the iPad. Later they will use these photos to use as a presentation about their school life at ISS.
With only a few weeks left in the school year, the Grade 3 class have started reviewing the four strands of language that were covered during the year. Last week they began with parts of a story and summarising. The students are using audio books to listen to a story and answer questions using full sentences, punctuation, capitalization and are aiming for correct spelling.
The students have been putting the finishing touches on their work, up loading it to their e-porfolios and practicing what they are going say or do in order to get ready for their Student Led Conference on Tuesday, 21 April.
