Happy faces all around!
This week, the Grade 4s were working on the final details of their biography; timelines and pictures to add to their presentation.
The students have been working on writing a biography and timeline of a significant person from their own country. Presentaitons will begin next week.
During this unit, the students practised short presentations in class to prepare for an end of unit assessment which was a Reader's Theatre called The Musicians of Bremen.
To finish off our unit on persuasive writing, the students read their persuasive letters to the class and then voted on which was the most convincing regarding changes they would like to see around the school. The letter will be presented to Mr. Pinchbeck for his consideration.
Working in groups, the students took prepared statements such as "cats make better pets than dogs" or "there should be no homework" and place them in either the agree or disagree section. The groups will justify their opinions using three strong reasons in presentation. The groups made a mini booklet to reflect on their learning.
The students used math vocabulary and graphs for collecting data as a basis for the Math Day lesson. We read the book "This Tree Counts" to collect, represent and interpret data.
To end Unit 1, "Spoken Words connect us with others", I sent out a Google form with questions for the students to give feedback. Responses to follow.
