The Student-led Conferences will take place next week, on Tuesday 19th April. You should have received an email explaining how to sign-up for a slot in your child's Home-room class. There is no school on Tuesday and students will only attend school with their parent(s) for their chosen one-hour time slot.
This year, you will spend approximately 40 minutes in your child's Home-room class and then can choose to visit their Art, P.E., Music or ESL classrooms. There is no sign-up for these classes. The students will show you some examples of their learning and discuss these with you. This is done independently and you can talk in whichever language you prefer. The teachers will be in class but this time is not scheduled for conferencing with students or parents as Student-led Conferences are an excellent opportunity for your children to take ownership of and responsibility for sharing their learning. We hope to see you this coming Tuesday. Help those in need, reduce food waste and fight global warming by wearing your pyjamas!
You can either pay $3 (or more if you like) to come to school in your pyjamas, and/or donate some dry, bottled or tinned food to help others in need. All proceeds go to The Food Bank Singapore Ltd. Find out more at http://www.foodbank.sg/ Grades 3, 4 and 5 worked together recently to plan, write and illustrate a story. We shared our ideas about possible characters, settings and problems that could feature in our story. We then voted for our favourites. The students then worked in pairs to write sections of the story. Finally, they illustrated their chosen parts of the story. The ESL and Mandarin departments will be hosting a joint meeting that explores how new languages are learnt and the strategies that you can use to support this learning.
We hope that you will be able to attend and look forward to seeing you there. |
