PictureAs a class, the students repeated the shape words, chose a card and then glued the card it next to the shape. The class gave feedback to say whether it was correct or not. This is the first step to learning about shapes and their names. This is just a sampler of some of the shapes that the classes are learning.

The students are learning about 2D and 3D shapes in their homeroom classes. Not only do they have to recognise many different types of shapes but they have to be able to spell and describe them in some detail. We are practising these same things in the ESL class.

After reflecting on their Acrostic poems and sharing with a buddy, some students continued to publish their narratives using a program called Little Bird Tales.

These students were publishing their story using Google slides to creat a slideshow presentation. They can add interesting backgound images or colours to each slide.

 UOI:
Writing is a way of expressing ourselves.
Lines of Inquiry

The way we structure and organize our writing helps
others to understand and appreciate it. The structure of different types of texts includes  identifiable features.

The Grade 3s are completing their narratives using a program called Little Bird Tales. This program will allow them to record their voice as they are reading the text. In addition, they will be able to either import pictures or draw title pages. A very creative and "expressive" way to show their work.

In addition, they are inquiring into different types of poetry, have completed an Acrostic poem and are learning about rhyming words and cuplets in a poem.
