On 2 June from 5 - 7 p.m. there will be a silent auction exhibition to raise money that will be given to the Singapore Red Cross for the Nepalese Earthquake.
The Student led conference is just that-the student leads by showing and explaining what they have been doing since their 3 Way Conference in October. It is a time to celebrate your child's learning and to find out a little bit more about what they have been doing in all of their classes. Don't forget to sign up!
Here are some helpful prompts to ask your child as he or she is showing you their work: Tell me about this piece of work. Why did you choose to include this? What do you think is good about this? What do you think you could do better in this piece of work? What did you enjoy learning about this ________? What is the best thing about this? What could you do to improve this piece of work? What do you know now that you didn’t know at the beginning of G4? How have you grown … (as a reader/writer/thinker/worker/mathematician?) What can you do better now than in the first semester? Between now and the end of the year, what would you like to do differently? I would like you to work more on… What do you feel good about learning this year? In what ways are you a better reader/writer/thinker/worker/mathematician than you were before? (Any other questions) On Tuesday, 14 April from 8:00 - 9:15 in the ES MPR (3rd floor) the ESL Department will put on a workshop about English language learning. Strategies which can help your child will be discussed.
We hope to see you there. The ESL Department |
