Presenting Information and Asking Questions

9/22/2015

This week we have been giving short presentations about ourselves and have also been improving the kinds of questions we ask to promote a higher level of thinking.

We used our Word Cloud Silhouettes and made notes before our presentations to help us gather our ideas.

We prepared questions to ask our partners after their presentations.

We presented!
Guess who:

Wants to be an astronaut?
Wants to be a pilot?
Likes One Direction?
Can cook pancakes?
Wants to have a cat when they are older?
Can play the piano?
Loves chicken rice?
Was born in the UK?
Was born in the USA?
Loves the colour blue?
Enjoys watching YouTube clips?

Our thoughts about the Central Idea...

We are coming to the end of our unit in which we have been thinking about the people we speak to, how what we say changes and the connections we make.

Some of the thoughts the students shared include:

"I say "Good Morning" to my mother because she says it to me. Answering someone who speaks to you helps build a better connection." Toma

"I made a connection with Yeonbi because she spoke to me when I was new. We used easy words because I didn't know much English then." Azusa

"I speak Chinese to my family but English to my friends." Xian Hang

"If you speak to someone then I can know what they are thinking." Yeonbi

"You need to reply to people when they talk to you." Max

"If I talk to other people I would make friends." Toma

"I think this means getting to know each other." Yutaro

"I know Stephen is from China because I spoke to him and learnt that." Xian Hang

"It is about talking to people." Keisuke

"It is about who I talk to." Hina

Your log-in is your Student Number.
Letters have been sent home to remind the children how to set up and log-in to the Lexia Reading Core5 program.

Little and often- even 15 minutes every few days will help them make progress.
